Julie was born Judith Gay Billings on April 11, 1941 in Greeley, Colorado, and lived in Estes Park until moving to Arizona at age 12. She graduated from Scottsdale High School, married, and raised a family in Tempe, where she resided for many years. Julie worked with developmentally disabled children and adults for many years at TCH (The Centers for Habilitation), and was a private caregiver and hospice volunteer in her later years.
Julie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, and is best remembered by her beautiful smile, quick wit, and love of people. She truly never met a stranger, and gave all whom she encountered the gift of warmth, kindness, and a listening ear.
Julie was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Eleanor Billings, her stepmother, Elizabeth Billings, her Aunt Clara (Tada) Dale, her first husband, Ted Peckham, and her second husband, Raymond Chundzinski. She is survived by two sons, Mark (Julie) Peckham, Dan (Darcee) Peckham, and daughter, Amy (Jess) Trias, as well as four grandchildren, Colby Marcum, Alyssa Peckham, Andrew Trias, and Hallie Trias. She is also survived by her younger sister, Susan Yuan.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Saint Matthew’s Episcopal Church – 901 W. Erie St., Chandler, AZ 85225, with a reception to follow. Memorial contributions may be made in Julie’s name to Hospice of the Valley.
