Jerome “Tony” Spartonos, of Sun Lakes, AZ, passed into the Lord’s hands on October 10, 2024, just shy of his 92nd birthday. Tony was born in Brooklyn, NY on Nov. 13, 1932, to his proud parents, Hugo and Selma Spartonos.
From the time he was a very young boy, Tony was fascinated with airplanes and wanted to know how they worked, which led him to a life-long career in aviation mechanics. He spent 37 years working for Trans World Airlines and another 5 years working for America West Airlines. During Tony’s time at Trans World, he was extremely proud of the fact that he helped establish a union that solely represents airplane mechanics, The Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Organization, or AMFA, as it is known in the industry.
Tony loved this country and felt honored to serve in the Marine Corps for more than 5 years, which included seeing action during the Korean War.
Tony leaves behind his devoted and loving wife of 57 years, Joyce. His other loving survivors include his daughter, Linda; his daughter-in-law, Denise and her husband Dave, his granddaughter, Kelly and her husband, James and their two children, his great grandsons, Micheal and Theo. Tony’s son, Micheal, very sadly, predeceased him in 2012. Tony’s only sibling, his sister Lucille Ianniello, predeceased him in 2021. Tony also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
Fly high with the angels, my love. We know you are at peace.
