Claudia Linda Balcom-Milks

Claudia Balcom-Milks, 66, of Chandler, AZ, passed away May 15, 2018. Born in Elgin, IL on October 14, 1951, to the late Robert and Dorothy (Sorensen) Balcom she grew up in Evanston, IL. She graduated from Evanston Township High School in 1969. She was a Peace Corps volunteer in Malaysia. She returned to the states and graduated from Northern Illinois University in 1975 with a BA. She held teaching and sales positions. Moving to Fairbanks, AK in 1978, where she held various sales positions. In 1991, after receiving an MBA from University Alaska Fairbanks, she moved to Chandler, AZ to start a career as a stock broker/ financial planner; retiring in 2013. She loved music. She was especially fond of her Pembroke Welsh Corgis, having owned several during her life. Claudia loved to travel and visited several foreign countries. She loved to vacation visiting as many states as she could, with Hawaii being her favorite. She is survived by her husband Norris (Bud) Milks, 2 sisters, Laurie Balcom and Melinda Balcom; 2 step-children Stephanie Carder (Brian) and Trevor Milks (Izzie); and 4 step-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Valley of the Sun Mortuary and Cemetery, 10940 E. Chandler Heights Rd., Chandler. She is now with the glory of God, and her family and friends will always love and miss her. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Alzheimer’s Association.
