Carol Ann Offenberg

Carol Ann Offenberg took her final breath on Saturday, September 25, 2021 in her home located in Gilbert, Arizona. Her son, daughter, and granddaughter were at her side. Carol possessed an unparalleled zest and passion for life, beating both breast cancer and lymphoma in the previous year. Though she fought hard, she ultimately succumbed to brain cancer at 76 years young. It would be wrong to say that Carol lost to cancer because she never stopped fighting and she continued to live fully. No matter how sick she was, she remained determined. Where others would have broken, Carol stayed strong. Through her journey we learned what it means to be resilient and to persevere.

Carol was born in Ashtabula, Ohio on May 3, 1945 to the late William & Dorothy Taylor. She spent many decades in Ohio where she ran her own hair salon, had two beautiful children (Jodi & John), and went on to meet the love of her life and soulmate, Duane Offenberg. They were passionately married for 27 years until Duane’s unexpected passing in 1999. Carol and Duane moved from Ohio to Arizona in the late 1980’s and both loved State 48 with every ounce of their being. They enjoyed country dancing, camping trips, hiking the mountains, car shows, game nights with friends, and Country Thunder.

Before Carol retired, she worked at Alaska Airlines and was a Flight Attendant for Allegiant Airlines. Her bubbly and outgoing personality, infectious laugh, zest for travel, and genuine openness towards others made her job exciting and fulfilling. It gave her the opportunity to build many lasting friendships. It also gave her the opportunity to travel the world and experience life to the fullest. She was always ready for her next adventure with whomever was willing to go.

She lived in Trilogy but she also had a summer home in Pinetop for almost 20 years where she met so many dear friends and made memories to last a lifetime. Her family and her friends were her everything; she could always be counted on. She loved passionately and she lived like there was no tomorrow. Carol had such a big personality and presence that she could change the energy of an entire room just by walking into it. With memories of Mahjong, Uno, Pinchy winchy, Pickle-ball, golf, happy hours, Christmas Eve parties, dancing, comedy clubs, shopping, casinos, and country music, every person close to Carol is left with a bucket overflowing with joyous memories of her and the love she left in their hearts.

Carol is survived by her daughter, Jodi Stiles and her partner, Shariar Mostashri, of Round Rock, TX, her son, John Kellar and his wife Trisha, of Albrightsville, PA, her brother, Allen Taylor and his wife Mary, of Kingsville, OH, her granddaughter, Cinnamon Stiles and her husband Ryan Friedman, of Queen Creek, AZ, her pride and joys, great-granddaughter, Lily Friedman and great-grandson, Sawyer Keil, her granddaughter, Tiffany Keil and her husband Bill, of Albrightsvile, PA, her granddaughter, Taylor Keller of Albrightsville, PA, grandson, Travis Stiles, of Denver, CO, her nephew, Will Taylor

and wife Krista, of Tampa, FL, and her niece, Angela Brown and her children Adam, Veronica, and Cora and partner Josh Sharpe of Pierpont, OH, as well as several close friends who she also considered family.

A memorial service for Carol will be held Friday, October 22, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Valley of the Sun Mortuary & Cemetery, 10940 East Chandler Heights Rd, Chandler, AZ 85248.

There will also be another service in Pierpont, Ohio at the Pierpont Presbyterian Church on November 6, 2021. Services will start at 11am followed by lunch at the church.

We would love for all of you to join us in celebrating Carol’s big, bold, beautiful life just like Carol would have wanted. She asked that we not be sad she passed, but to find joy, laugh until we cry, seek comfort in one another, and celebrate her big beautiful life. The family would also appreciate donations be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, or Hospice of the Valley, in Carol Offenberg’s name.
