Alice Roselee Wachter

Alice Roselee Wachter, beloved wife, mother, and friend passed away at age 84 on November 4th, 2021 in Phoenix, Arizona. She had responded with dignity and courage to the personal sufferings caused by lymphoma and complications from a recent fall.

Roselee was born in East Chicago Indiana to parents George and Palma Lee Newman. She attended school in Cape Girardeau Missouri and graduated from College High School where she was the yearbook Princess in 1955. She earned a degree in Education from Southeast MO State College and went on to teach Missouri third grade students until she began to focus on raising her three children. She continued to teach in her own way and enriched the lives of all who were fortunate enough to spend time with her.

As a youth, Roselee became a member of the Cape Girardeau Centenary United Methodist Church. She would be married at this same church in 1958. Later she was a member of the Longview Methodist Church in Hickman Mills, MO and attended the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection in Overland Park, KS and the East Valley Bible College in Gilbert, AZ. Her spirituality ran deep and was a constant force in her life.

She is survived by these members of her loving family: husband Donald Wachter (married 63 Years), daughters Sara Harrison (Shannon) and Rebecca Werner (Mark), and son Richard Wachter (Theresa). Grandchildren are Jason Harrison, Nicholas Werner, and Isabelle Wachter. Great-grandchildren are Jasper Harrison and Lucchese Harrison. Nephews are Steve Newman, Dan Newman, Randy Metje, Kirk Metje, and Todd Metje (deceased).

Roselee prioritized her relationships with others. She was a gentle soul and her life revolved around her love for family and friends. Close friends will remember her unconditional loyalty to them. Sending cards was especially important to her and she always took the time to infuse them with personal touches and wonderful memories. We feel fortunate for the time we had with her and will always cherish our years together.

The Valley of the Sun Mortuary accepted her into their care after she passed away peacefully. In keeping with her request, there will be a private interment with no public memorial service. For memorial contributions, the family suggests Centenary United Methodist Church, 300 N Ellis St, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701 or a charity of the donor’s choice.
