Walter A. Gagliano

Walter A. Gagliano passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at the age of 91. He was the beloved husband of Sheila Garvey Gagliano for 54 years. Loving father of Lisa Gagliano Heller (Tommy), Vincent John Gagliano (Tiffanie) and Michael Walter Gagliano (Brandi). Son of the late Vincent and Catherine Geraci Gagliano. Brother of the late Lucy Gagliano, Mary Gagliano, Bessie Gagliano Frosch (Warren), Tony Gagliano, Benny Gagliano, Frank Gagliano, Manuel Gagliano (Barbara), Joe Gagliano (Vicki), Vincent Gagliano and Salvador Gagliano (Linda). Proud grandfather of Anthony Gagliano, Katie Heller, Leah Heller, Alyson Gagliano, Maribella and Gianna Gagliano. Also survived by many other relatives, friends and his beautiful dog, Bella.

Walter was born on February 27, 1932 in St. Bernard, LA. He was a longtime resident of Chalmette, LA and has been a resident of Loranger, LA since Hurricane Katrina. He received his Bachelors and Masters Degree from Louisiana State University.

The family wishes to thank the staff of St. Joseph’s Hospice, especially nurse Ryan Rivers for the care they provided during this difficult time. In addition I would like to thank our children and their spouses along with our devoted nephew Keith and Aimee Garvey who went over and above providing sacrifices to make it possible for Walter to remain at home throughout his illness.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 from 10:00AM – 12:00PM. A Funeral Mass will begin at 12:00 PM. He will be laid to rest with Military Honors in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
