Shirley R. Mouton passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at the age of 92. She was born in St. Bernard Parish on November 4, 1930. A lifelong resident of Chalmette. She was a devoted wife to the late Wilton John Mouton. Shirley was the loving mother of Carrie Gioe (Frankie), the late Arlene Gettys and the late Janet Mouton. Proud grandmother of Dayna Rhodes (Robby) and Kelly Lauro (Max); great grandmother of Rhett Rhodes and Josie Lauro. She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Mildred Rodriguez; her brother Cyril Rodriguez.
Shirley’s greatest joy was raising her children and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was also very devoted to her Catholic faith. Shirley was a lifelong parishioner of Our Lady of Prompt Succor. She will be forever remembered for her willingness to help others. Her memory will live forever in our hearts.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, 2320 Paris Road, Chalmette, LA on Friday, May 26, 2023 from 10:00 AM- 12:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will begin at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
