Robert Joseph Jorns

On Sunday, May 7, 2023, Robert Joseph Jorns joined his parents, siblings, relatives, and savior, Jesus Christ in his new Heavenly home. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones. Bob was born on February 22, 1935, in New Orleans, LA. He was a resident of Chalmette, LA for majority of his life having recently returning after living 14 years in Ponchatoula, LA post- Katrina. Bob retired after 30 years of service with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. He was a member of the Louisiana Lions Club, St. Vincent de Paul Society, and a parishioner and usher of Our Lady of Prompt succor Catholic Church. He enjoyed square dancing, camping, and spending time with family.

Robert is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Ann Guenther Jorns. His four children and their spouses, Cindy (Erich) Wolff, Robert (Kelly Moser) Jorns, Rachel (Carl) Marks and Michele (Chris) Omes; his eight grandchildren, Werner (Kayli Leer) Wolff, Raquel (Jack Stewart) Wolff, Chloe Jorns, Alex Jorns, Jay Marks, Nicholas Marks, Gabby Omes and Ellie Omes; one great-granddaughter, Tatum Wolff. The family would like to thank the team with Notre Dame Hospice of New Orleans. Their service and support has been a blessing. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the food bank or St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Friday, May 19, 2023, from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM. A funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CEMETERY, 2805 Bayou Rd, St. Bernard, LA.
