Lillian Robin Gonzales passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at the age of 85. She was the cherished wife of the late Richard “Kayo” Gonzales Sr. Daughter of the late Theophile Robin and Edna Gonzales Robin. Loving mother of Robin A. Hernandez (Punchy), Tammy Albers (Joey), Ricky Sr. (Amy) and Rene Gonzales (the late Bambi). Stepmother of Richard Jr. (Willie Ann), Lisa G. Barnett (Leon) and the late Angelo Gonzales, Douglas Gonzales and Jeromine G. Necaise. Sister of Virginia R. Alfonso, Madeline R. Lauzon and the late Milton Robin Sr., Lorraine R. Clark, Earline R. Gray and Edna Lucas. She is also survived and fondly remembered by her 15 grandchildren (1 late), 16 great grandchildren (1 late), along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Lillian, a beloved native of Delacroix Island and current resident of Poydras, leaves behind a legacy woven with community pride and boundless affection for her loved ones. As a dedicated member and treasurer of the Canary Islands Descendants, she enriched her community, culminating in the honor of serving as the esteemed 2014 Queen of the Irish, Italian Islenos Parade. She especially enjoyed her honorary membership in the G.W.R.R.A. Chapter F Motorcycle Club.
Throughout her life, Lillian found joy in numbers, evidenced by her fulfilling career as a weight recorder/officer for TOPS, Chapter 45, where she not only excelled but also reigned as a one-time queen. Her proficiency extended beyond as she generously aided friends and family in preparing their taxes, showcasing her exceptional skill with figures.
An enthusiast of Poker Keno, she found delight in the simple pleasures of life, cherishing family gatherings above all. Her unwavering love for her family was a guiding light, illuminating the significance of togetherness in her heart.
In this time of mourning, the family expresses profound gratitude for the unwavering companionship and care provided by her dear friends and caregivers, Mary Ruiz and Beth Herleikson, who stood by her side through thick and thin.
Lillian's memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her, forever cherished for her warmth, generosity, and love for both numbers and the tender moments of life.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend an evening visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Wednesday, December 13th from 6:00PM – 9:00PM and again on Thursday morning from 9:00AM – 11:00AM. A Funeral Mass in Lillian’s memory will follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 2621 Colonial Blvd, Violet, LA beginning at 12:00PM. Lillian will be laid to eternal rest with her beloved husband Richard in St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery.
