Leonce "Lonnie" Paul Hernandez

In loving memory of Leonce “Lonnie” Paul Hernandez, a devoted husband, father, and family man. Lonnie passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loved ones on Monday, August 28th, 2023. He was the loving husband of 53 years to Brenda Pellegrini Hernandez. Together they had four daughters: Karen Duggan (Jeff), Kristy Cobden (Dave), Kelly Dardar (Chase), and Kaycie Butler (Robby); nine grandchildren: Brandon Hernandez (Kelsi); Brennan, Bryce, Bri, and Blakely Cobden; Kenleigh and Chandler Dardar; Robby and Asher Butler; and two great grandchildren: Branson and Brantley Hernandez. Lonnie has two sisters: Kathy Cheramie and Susan Spears; and one brother: Kenny Hernandez. He is preceded in death by his parents Inez Ruiz and Leonce Hernandez and his sister Sandra Cantrell.

Lonnie was a graduate of St. Bernard High school and enjoyed playing several sports there. He went on to serve his country for six years in the Louisiana Air National Guard and dedicated 50 years of his life to his career at Southern Natural Gas, formally known as El Paso, and currently known as American Midstream. Lonnie enjoyed working in his garage and being everyone’s handyman. He loved watching his grandchildren excel in sports. Watching the New Orleans Saints and the occasional visit to the casino always brought him joy. Lonnie’s love, humor, and dedication will leave a lasting legacy in our hearts. Lonnie’s family would like to extend a special thank you to his caregivers Marisa, Marita, Margaret, and Mrs. Parker.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue Street, Chalmette LA on Thursday, August 31st, 2023, from 10:00am till 1:00pm. A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00pm with a burial to follow at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL GARDENS.
