Joseph L. Barbe Jr., a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on June 26, 2024. His life was marked by a deep love for his family and a distinguished career in accounting. He was the loving husband to Dorothy Rose Barbe for over 60 plus years. Proud father to Linda Beaulieau and David Barbe. Caring grandfather to 5 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph L. Barbe Sr., and Cecclia Barbe; his son Joseph L. Barbe III.
Joseph was born in New Orleans, LA in 1931 and was a resident of Covington, LA. He attended Holy Cross High School, where he excelled academically and developed a passion for learning. After graduating, he pursued higher education at Tulane University, earning a degree in accounting. His professional journey as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) spanned decades, during which he built a reputation for integrity, precision, and dedication to his clients. His meticulous approach and ethical standards earned him the trust and respect of colleagues and clients alike. Joseph also was a Veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Beyond his career achievements, Joseph's greatest source of pride and joy was his family. He married the love of his life, Dorothy, with whom he shared over 60 years of unwavering love and companionship. Together, they raised three children. He found immense happiness in being a father, and later a grandfather and great-grandfather, showering his descendants with unconditional love and support. He will be deeply missed by us all.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM. A funeral mass will begin at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in ST. VINCENT DE PAUL CEMETERY NO. 2.
