Harold "Buddy" James Lainhart passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023 at the age of 69. He was the beloved husband of 23 years to Belinda Robin Lainhart. Father of the late baby Tiffany Lainhart. Son of the late Buck Lainhart and Shirley Boudreaux Lainhart. Brother of Peggy Walker, Timmy Lainhart and the late Janice Carreras and Kenny Leslie. Brother-in-law of Wendy Miller (George), Lonnie Robin (Debbie) and the late Fred Carreras. Step-father of Krissy Fradella (Shane). He is also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Born in New Orleans, Harold was a proud longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish before settling in River Ridge following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. His commitment to his country was unwavering. He served proudly in the U.S. Army, embodying the spirit of duty and honor. Harold's passion for LSU sports was legendary. Harold bled purple and gold, as his loyalty and enthusiasm were never faltering.
Harold was a former rider of the Napoleon and Jefferson Carnival Club and devoted his time as a coach for the Rebel Little League Football team, imparting his wisdom and love for the game to countless young athletes.
In his leisure, Harold found joy and achievement in the Arabi Bowling League, where his skill once led to a perfect game, leaving a mark of excellence among his fellow bowlers. His dedication to work was commendable, evident through his long and successful career at Schwegmann’s Supermarket and culminating in retirement as a Technician for the Jefferson Parish Government. Harold's resilience shone brightly during Hurricane Katrina, as he remained steadfastly committed to his responsibilities despite the challenging times.
Harold will be fondly remembered for his benevolent nature and a heart that overflowed with generosity. His love for his country, support for LSU sports, and his cherished relationships with family and friends will forever be etched in the memories of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In the wake of his passing, Harold leaves behind a community that will deeply miss his presence, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and a profound love for both country and family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a evening visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Thursday, December 7th from 6:00PM – 9:00PM followed by a morning visitation on Friday, December 8th from 9:00AM – 11:00AM. A Funeral Mass will be said in Harold’s memory beginning at 11:00AM. He will be laid to eternal rest with military honors in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
