George I. Miller Jr.

George Isadore Miller, Jr. passed away on Monday, July 15, 2024 at the age of 80. A long-time resident of St. Bernard Parish, George spent his life as a loving husband to his wife of 52 years, Sheila LeBlanc Miller. He received his B.S. in Engineering from Southeastern Louisiana University and was employed at the National Gypsum Company. He then spent the majority of his career as a master plumber, serving Chalmette and New Orleans for more than 40 years. He grew up in the 9th Ward, enjoyed playing the slots in any casino on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and actively participated in the Catholic faith. George spent the final years of his life at Pontchartrain Health Care Centre, where he served as president of the resident council and remained actively engaged in community life.

He is preceded in death by his wife-Sheila LeBlanc Miller, father-George I. Miller, Sr., mother-Mary Eva Mischler, and sister-Beverly Miller Tarifa (Frank). He is survived by his goddaughter Gina Tarifa Cazaubon (Chris), nephews Frank J. Tarifa (Melissa) and Todd Tarifa (Rachel), and numerous great nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Patti and the loving staff of Pontchartrain Health Care Centre for caring for George.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, July 20, 2024 from 9:00 AM-11:00 AM. A funeral mass will begin at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in St. Vincent De Paul Cemetery, 1401 Louisa Street, New Orleans, LA 70117.
