Frances Samanie Landry passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at the age of 73. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that she had touched in some small way throughout her very memorable life. She was the cherished wife of the late Daniel L. Landry Sr. Loving mother of Daniel Lynn Landry Jr. (Katrina), Robin Landry Muir and Michael Paul Landry Sr. (Gwendolyn). Daughter of the late Francis Samanie and Audrey Scott Samanie. Sister of Audrey Mitchell, Dorothy Miriam Levy, Rachel Lagrange and the late Gordon Paul Samanie Sr., Patsy Martin and John Dale Samanie Sr. Proud grandmother of Daniel Lynn Landry III, Matthew Brooks Landry (Karlee), Michael Joseph Landry (Heather), Ariel Lynn Bercegeay (Owen), Michael Paul Landry Jr. (Krista), Megan Landry, Glenn Landry and the late Henry Jack Muir Jr. Great grandmother of Jayden Parker-Muir, Henry J.O. Muir, Landon J. Stewart, Julian D. Anselmo, Hadleigh K. Bercegeay, Lorelai A. Bercegeay, Xander M. Landry, Gavin P. Landry, Kylee A. Landry and the late Ryleigh Melancon. She is also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Frances was born in New Orleans, LA and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish before settling in Pearl River, LA. She truly enjoyed life through her simple pleasures, especially sewing. She was a gifted seamstress and was rarely seen without a needle and thread in her hands. She found pleasure in the details of everyday life and caring deeply for others. Her devotion to Elvis was surpassed only by the love for her grandchildren. Frances will always be remembered for her loyalty and dedication to her family, her loving spirit, her laughter, and spoiling the grandchildren. She was a wonderful example of what it means to care for others and will be deeply missed by us all.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Tuesday, February 2nd from 12:00PM – 2:00PM, followed by a funeral service in Frances’ memory beginning at 2:00PM. She will be laid to eternal rest with her husband Daniel in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens. Due to COVID-19, face masks and social distancing are required.
