Duke C. Mauterer Sr.

Donald “Duke” Charles Mauterer Sr passed away peacefully with his family by his side, October 1, 2022, at the age of 71. He was born April 22, 1951 in New Orleans, LA. He was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish and current resident of Madisonville, LA. He will forever be remembered by his beloved wife of 48 years, Cynthia Glorioso Mauterer; his son, Donald “Duke” Mauterer Jr (Tina); his daughter, Stefanie Mauterer Whiddon (Jake); his 3 grandchildren, Grace, Sophia and Alexander. He is survived by his siblings, Pat Mauterer Marr (Charlie) and Ronald Mauterer (late Carmen), along with his extended family, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Fred Mauterer Sr and Jewel Fricke Mauterer and his brother Fred (Freddie) Mauterer Jr.

Duke was a graduate of Chalmette High School. He was a retired state employee for the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center as a Telecommunications manager for 22 years. Duke spent his free time enjoying classic cars with his son, helping family and friends with projects, playing the guitar and most of all enjoying the company of his 3 grandbabies.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, October 7, 2022, at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue Street, in Chalmette, from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM. A memorial service in Duke’s honor will begin at 1:00 PM.
