Verla Lee Carroll was born October 11, 1931, to the late Josephine and Edgar Smith. She was an active member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, where she loved playing the piano. Over the years, she has enjoyed singing, playing softball, and cooking. In fact, the "Mississippi Mud Cake" was her Sunday specialty.
She is survived by her daughters, Evonn (Doug) Sadberry and Kathy Allen; son, Eddie(LeighAnn) Carroll; three granddaughters, Randi (Chris) Taylor, Holli (Billy Jack) Carroll, and Laura (Chris) Sparks; one grandson, Anthony Parks; great grandchildren, William Taylor, Damian Taylor, Mallory West, Cody Sparks, Hunter Parks, and Peyton Parks.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Josephine and Edgar Smith; husband, Bill Carroll; sisters, Jennie Carroll, Vae George, and Ann Wolfe; brother, Rayford Smith; and great grandchild, Miranda Sanders.
A Celebration of Life for Verla Lee Carroll will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Rockco Funeral Home (Centreville) with visitation one hour prior from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Burial will follow in Greenpond Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers are William Taylor, Damian Taylor, Anthony Parks, Hunter Parks, Chris Taylor, and Chris Sparks.
