Cecil James Gelder

Cecil James Gelder, 81, passed away on May 20, 2010 at Providence Centralia Hospital surrounded by his beloved family. Cecil was born to Walter and Annie (Stewart) Gelder on May 25, 1928, in Bathgate, ND.

He was a beloved husband to his wife, Leonora; a father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather. He resided in Chehalis for 40 years and Riverside Nursing home, Centralia, for the past three years.

Cecil and Leonora (Dalzell) were married on October 23, 1948 in LeRoy, ND. After settling in Chehalis, WA, Cecil worked at Moduline and Fuller’s Market Basket. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, spending time with family and friends. Cecil and Leonora loved spending time at the beach, dancing, playing cards and traveling in their motor home. He was a member of the Chehalis Eagles and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chehalis.

Preceding Cecil in death were his parents, his brother, John “Jack” Gelder and daughter-in-law, Diane Gelder.

Cecil will be lovingly remembered by his 9 children: Michael (Sheri), Leonard, Timothy (Jean), Leland (Lisa), Sheila Gelder, Gary, Cindy (David) Hansen, Jerry (Susanne) and Teri Gelder, his grandchildren: Matthew, Christopher, Charlie, Brianna, Caleb, Grace, Nicholas, Anthony, Marcus, Zachary, Adam, Anastasia, Sarah, Ashley, Joshua, Jared, Justin and great-grandchildren: Isaiah, Bailey, Logan and Cassie. Also by his sisters Doris (Laverne) Staples, Margaret (John) Staples, Nelda McDonald and sister in law Lois Gelder.
