Known as Louise to her family and friends, she was born on September 16, 1937, at Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge, lived a full life, married, had three children, nine grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren until passing peacefully at 1:50 PM Saturday June 22th, at The Crossing Hospice at Clarity on Bluebonnet in Baton Rouge. She was 86.
She was preceded in death by her childhood sweetheart, Ralph Randolph Carpenter, they were married for 59 years. She was a long time resident of Central, member of Blackwater United Methodist Church and was instrumental in the creation of the Prayer Garden at Blackwater. Born, Dorothy Louise to Joseph and Dorothy Labello, she was a daughter, sister, then wife, mother to two sons and a daughter; Randal Joseph married to Cindy, Daryl Wayne, and Donna Lynn married to Mike Otadi. A grandmother to Leah Raup, Lindy Carpenter, Brandi Patin, Derek Carpenter, Kristen McLemore, Dalton Carpenter, Kendall Hartman, Kolby Carpenter, and Josh Otadi. Great grandmother to Jordon Patin, Everett, Asher, and Violet Raup, Mason, Micah, and Maddox McLemore, Heath Miller, Gabriel Rico, Ian Hartman, Oakley Hartman, and Finley Hartman. She began her adult life as a homemaker, but at an age when most careers are winding down, she began another career in the Bakery Dept at Albertsons Grocery. Louise possessed a thirst for learning that she fulfilled by being a voracious reader and had an appreciation for music that she instilled in her children. She was both independent minded and a renaissance woman skilled in cooking, gardening, canning; from making pickles to making brandy. She loved English gardens and watching British television. Especially skilled in the art of crocheting from creating fine Doiley's to large afghans. Wake will be at Central funeral home on Hooper Road Wednesday June 26th at 10AM. Service will follow officiated by Rev Kennon Pickett, then she will join her husband at the St George Mausoleum. In keeping with her love of nature there will be butterfly release.
