Robert A. Whitcomb, 92 of Old Lyme passed away peacefully with his beloved wife and daughters by his side on Monday, October 14, 2024. He was born August 22, 1932 in New London, Connecticut to the late Frank S. Whitcomb and Ignacia (Jordan) Whitcomb. He grew up in Groton, Connecticut and went on to get his bachelor's degree from University of Connecticut. Robert served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Robert met the love of his life Patricia (Grogan) in 1966 while working at United Bank and Trust. They married in 1967 and moved to Old Lyme where they raised their two loving daughters, Kimberly A. Whitcomb of Old Saybrook, CT and Jean-Marie Harvey (Mickey) of Old Saybrook, CT. Robert retired from Southern New England Telephone Company in 1995 after 20 years.
Robert was a faithful member of Christ the King Church in Old Lyme where he served as Eucharistic Minister and other positions as assigned. He gave much of his time to his community, always with a smile on his face. Robert was a devoted Huskies fan, as anyone knows. He never missed watching “his girls” play.
