Bob served in the British Royal Navy as a wireless operator before emigrating to Essex, CT in 1965 and founding Robert S. Johnson and Sons Custom Builders.
Bob was a member of the First Congregational Church of Essex where he sang for 58 years as a member of the choir. Performed with Light Opera on the Sound and Nutmeg Players, Tyneside Singers, Capella Cantorum for 50 years, Men’s Choir Hill Top Four and New Horizons Band. Bob was a member of the Ancient Order of Weeders, Boy Scouts Troop 12 Leader, helped with many mission trips with the Church and was a world traveler.

Bob (‘Bob the Builder’) was proclaimed by the town of Essex in 2021 and lived a life filled with passion for music, travel, friends and family.
Bob leaves to grieve his loving children Ian, Paul and Susan Christopher (Richard). Grandchildren Sean (Erin), Nicole (Justin) and Heather. Great grandchildren Michael, Lilith, Ayla and Clark.
Celebration of Robert’s life will be held Friday, April 26th 2024 12:30pm at the First Congregational Church of Essex. Reception to follow in Fellowship Hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Community School in Centerbrook and Essex Congregational Church.
