Nancy S. Bateman, 94, passed away peacefully in her sleep early on the morning of March 18th. She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, William B. Bateman and her parents Clara E. She was a loving and much-loved daughter, sister, friend, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be missed, but always remembered. Nancy grew up in Providence, RI and summered at Charleston Beach. She graduated from Wellesley College, where she made many lifelong friends. She lived in New York City, Darien CT, Toronto Ontario, Quechee VT and Essex CT throughout her married life. She wanted to travel to the ends of the Earth and she made that happen. From Siberia to Antarctica, Greenland to Japan, Australia to Argentina, Mexico to Africa and various stops in Europe: she managed to stop on every continent, fulfilling her dream. We want to thank the great staff at Essex Meadows for all their wonderful care, help & support. Our Mother always donated to the local food bank wherever she lived, so in lieu of flowers, please find it in your heart to donate to your local or state food bank. Burial will be private. A memorial service may be scheduled for a later date.
