Marie Jean Bisson

Marie (Stawski) Bisson, 86 (born May 25, 1938) of Guilford, CT,– Beloved Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunt, and Grandmother – passed away peacefully on Tuesday at Yale New Haven Hospital, surrounded by family. Born in Newport Township, PA, she was the daughter of Jennie (Legas) Stawski and John Stawski of Waterbury, CT. She is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, Bernard “Barney” Bisson, her son Joseph Bisson (wife Kathleen) of Chester, CT, her daughter Jean Marie Bisson-Remick (husband Glenn) of Wellesley Hills, MA, and loving grandchildren Jackson Bisson and Emi Bisson whom she was very proud of. Marie also leaves behind her brother, John Stawski (wife Carol) of Scotia, NY, several nieces and nephews and many dear friends. She was loved by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her strong faith, vibrant personality and sweet nature will be her enduring legacy. Marie was a long-time resident of New Hartford, CT, where she raised her family and spent countless hours shuttling kids to hockey games, figure skating tournaments and other sporting events. She enjoyed dancing with Barney and family vacations traveling throughout Canada. After retiring from the insurance and aerospace industries, Marie and Barney embraced their love for the outdoors, building a second home in Centennial, Wyoming and spending their days skiing and hiking in the Rocky Mountains. Their deep bond, infectious humor, and quick—sometimes stubborn—wit brought joy to all who knew them.

She will be deeply missed.
