John G. Weingardt, 55, of Essex, CT died unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, June 25, 2019. He is survived by his mother, Joan Weingardt of Essex, his father Greg Weingardt and step-father Roger Hooverman of Nokomis, FL, his sister Elizabeth Brenneman and her husband Kyle of Cape Elizabeth, ME, a niece and two nephews, three step-siblings, an aunt and two cousins and their families.
John enjoyed living life to the fullest as the Leo he was. As a boy, he spent summers trolling Indian Lake with his grandfather Norman and gained an appreciation and love for boating and fishing. A generous and charming young man, he attended the Rochester Institute of Technology and enjoyed a successful career as a print design salesman for George Rice & Sons. He had a passion for cooking and kitchen design and was an amazing chef and host. John was a member of the LGBTQ community and a fierce advocate for gay rights. He lived his life the way he wanted, unapologetically.
A private funeral service was held on Thursday, June 27, 2019 for his immediate family.
