Roy (also known as Snooker) was born October 5, 1943 in New Ulm, MN. After graduating from New Ulm High School, he attended Minneapolis/St. Paul Vocational Trade School where he studied micro precision assembly, design and watch repair. He continued his education at Arapahoe Community College in Littleton, CO where he studied drafting and math.
Roy put his education and skills to use at Data Products where he supervised all assembly lines that built and tested computer equipment. In 1971, Roy was hired by Martin Marietta where he built and tested aerospace equipment. He was later hired by Reynolds Aluminum and moved to McCook, Illinois. While employed by Reynolds, Roy worked on the space shuttle project. In 1977, Roy moved back to the Denver area with his wife at the time, Vala, who was pregnant with their son, Jesse, and his stepchildren David and Mary Crail.
Roy went to work at Lockheed Martin Aerospace as a mechanical test engineer until his retirement in 1999.
Roy had a vast array of interests and hobbies. He was an avid bowler. Roy bowled in a league with his team, the Cranky Pants. Roy also enjoyed hunting and was a member of the Skyline Hunting and Fishing Club. He was also a member of the MARS Associates. He also participated in several activities with his special friend, Essie. They both enjoyed water aerobics, dancing, music, Bronco and Rockies games, traveling, and visiting family.
Roy is survived by his special friend, Estelle (Essie) Hatch of Lone Tree, CO; David Crail of Englewood, CO; Mary Tucker and her husband, Chris, of Las Vegas and their son, Dylan; his nephew, Darren Haas and niece Deanne Haas, both of Burbank, California. He is also survived by cousins and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy O. and Verna M. Jenson; his son, Jesse B. Jenson; his sister, Sonja Haas; and his niece, Doreen Haas.
Roy (or as some called him Royal) had an uncanny sense of humor and true care and compassion for others. He was a member of Abiding Word Evangelical Lutheran Church in Highlands Ranch, CO where he loved maintaining the church and the property and various projects. He was also a past member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm, MN.

Funeral service for Roy will be held Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 11:00am at Abiding Word Lutheran Church (8391 Burnley Court, Highlands Ranch CO 80126). This funeral service will be livestreamed at 11:00am MST and you can join with the following link:
A reception will follow from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary in the Mountain View Room (6601 South Colorado Blvd, Centennial CO 80121). Roy's ashes will be laid to rest in Olinger Chapel Hill Cemetery with a brief graveside service at 3:00pm.
