Born on May 17, 1946, to Marian Jane (Chamberlin) Hendershot and Robert Hendershot, Marsha spent her childhood in Lima, Ohio. She enjoyed carefree summers, running barefoot and swimming at the Shawnee Country Club, and was crowned Carnival Queen during her high school years at Shawnee High School.
Driven by her passion for service, Marsha pursued nursing at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, where she was honored to join Phi Beta Kappa and the Delta Delta Delta sorority. A devoted Blue Devils fan, her loyalty to her alma mater endured a lifetime.
Subsequently, Marsha made Florida her home, cultivating enduring friendships and embracing her fondness for pink flamingos. Even after settling in Colorado, her residence became a haven adorned with reminders of sunny days, embodied by her beloved collection of flamingo memorabilia. She made it a tradition to revisit Sanibel Island each year.
Marsha wed Bayne Phillips, and together they welcomed their daughter, Allyssa, into the world while residing in Denver. Family remained at the center of her life, as she treasured moments shared with loved ones, whether visiting her mother in Ohio and Florida, embarking on adventures with her siblings and nieces/nephews, or hosting joyful holiday gatherings.
An avid learner, Marsha pursued her Master's degree from Regis University and devoted herself to becoming a compassionate Nurse Practitioner. She expressed her creativity through heartfelt gifts, ranging from handmade soaps and lotions to delicious fudge and glasswork. Committed to her well-being, she diligently attended her deep core class endearingly nicknamed "kill class" as part of her health routine.
Marsha was preceded in death by her parents, Marian and Bob, and is survived by her daughter Allyssa, granddaughters Ella and Madalyn, brother Roger, and sister Leslie.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Alzheimer’s research in Marsha's memory would be deeply appreciated.
A celebration of life for Marsha will be held Friday, May 3, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6601 South Colorado Blvd, Centennial, CO 80121.
