He was high school class valedictorian, athlete (football, basketball, baseball and track), and an Eagle Scout. Larry graduated with a BS in Architectural Engineering from the University of Colorado in 1962. He moved to Kansas City, Missouri after graduation. He met Rose Ann at his first job with HNTB, where she was the secretary to his company partners. They married within 11 months of meeting.
For more than 50 years, Larry was dedicated to his career in engineering design, and project and construction management with a focus on client service and mentorship of those who worked with him. He was a registered civil and structural engineer in 17 states and managed the development and implementation of major rail transit, highway, and bridge projects all over the county. His career led him and his family from Kansas City, to Washington DC, Denver, San Francisco, San Jose, Phoenix and Los Angeles.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Ann, of 55 years, three daughters (Julie and husband Don Reuter, Janet and husband James Kelsey, Teresa and husband Michael Clark), three grandsons (Ryan, Jonah, and Garner, one granddaughter (Lia), and his five siblings (Roz Losey, Cecil Hazzard, Les Hazzard, Jacquie Smith and Charlotte Hazzard).
