Kevin was my manager while I was at USAA in the early ‘90s.  He left an indelible mark on me as I made my way in the claims adjuster business after leaving active duty.  He was a great mentor and made me feel like I was part of the team.  I was particularly proud to play on his intramural  basketball team - what a passionate and enthusiastic coach!  I couldn’t play to save me, but he let me play and, again, made me feel I was a valued member of the team.   I am deeply sadden over his death. Tina, Clarke and Carson: 
Ronny Moten called me yesterday to tell me of Kevin's death.  I am so sorry for your loss and I am in shock that he is gone.  Kevin and I go back to USAA days, maybe as far back as 1989 when I started in Central Region under Fred Huff.    I used to hang out at his desk and we'd chit chat eating Now and Laters.  Then in 2005 we were in the group of 20 adjusters that got laid off.  He went to work for Zurich (our parent company) and I went to work for Farmers.  I'd call him every year for his birthday and we'd catch up on what's new, how the kids were, how Tina was and life in general.  I tried calling him this January 8th, but his voice mail box was full, so I sent him a text.  He called me a day or so later confirming that the got the message and asked that I call him so we could catch up.  Unfortunately I never found the time to call him back.    I called him today just to hear his voice.  

He will be greatly missed.

My deepest sympathy to Kevin's family and friends.  I thought I would share this with you. I have been working with Kevin since December, as I am a Recruiter in the insurance industry.  He had interviewed with a first in class insurance company, a client of mine, a few weeks ago and impressed everyone who interviewed him. I was told last Monday before  his death that they were going to make him on offer for a job he wanted very much.  In getting to know Kevin, there is no doubt in my mind that he would have been an asset to this company with his impressive claims knowledge and experience, along with his strong desire to make a positive difference in a good organization.  He was a low key sharp guy, with a witty personality, who I personally enjoyed getting to know very much. We had many discussions about him bringing his experience and skills to the right company where he could grow into a more responsible position, get back on track and finish his career on a high. He told me about his sons who he loved very much and was so proud of.  We had that in common as I have been blessed with two sons as well. I was very sad to hear about his sudden death, not because I lost a nice deal, but because I lost a new friend and mostly because Kevin had that opportunity that he had been seeking, finally being offered to him last week.

Kevin was a great friend, loved playing hoops, and hanging out with him, such as @ Valor games where he kept score and supported his two awesome sons Cooper and Clarke , that he and his amazing wife Tina were incredible parents to, and I'm so blessed to he allowed me to get to know his wonderful family. We got to hoop with quite a bit with our local basketball family and we all will miss him dearly. Sadly, I am currently working hurricane relief for the military community in North Carolina and won't be able to attend the memorial and celebration of life reception, and extend all my love and support to their dear family and friends on behalf of myself, my family, and our extended basketball community.  If there's any way we can help with anything, please let us know. Lord Jesus, we commend the spirit of our dear brother into Your loving arms, bring peace and comfort to Tina, Clarke, Carson and all the Cooper family and friends, in Jesus name amen!

Thoughts and prayers to Kevin's family and friends.   This was shocking news and still hard to believe that this man who was so filled with love, laughter, and life is gone. 

I used to speak with him frequently and will miss sharing our stories and laughter.

 Kevin was a great friend and we thoroughly enjoyed working with him at Zurich in Schaumburg and Omaha. We looked forward to him coming to Omaha and spent long dinners rehashing old fond memories.  We  especially enjoyed going with him to one of Clarke’s football games in Sioux Falls.

Kevin referred to me as "The Doctor".  I always referred to Kevin as "The King".  I have known Kevin for many years.  Kevin became my back-up for work.  It seems like Kevin and I would talk twice per day about something.  I could always count on Kevin to help when needed.  

Kevin loved his family and was very proud of his two sons.  Kevin and I would travel to Sioux Falls, SD, to attend his sons football games.  We had such a good time.  Kevin and I would always go to the local grocery store and get some fried chicken or burgers and bring them to the football stadium for our tailgate party.  When the game started, Kevin was on his feet constantly cheering on his two sons.  Kevin was also proud of the outstanding academic results of his sons...Gold Honor Role always!  Kevin would often tell me how proud he was of his wife and her legal career.  

Kevin was a very capable individual.  Always steadfast in his duties.  

I will miss our conversations and his friendship.  Kevin was like a brother to me.

My condolences to Kevin’s family and friends. I worked with Kevin and it was his spirit that made working less of a chore. I’ll miss him.

I'm very sorry to hear of Kevin's passing. We worked together for many years and shared a common bond talking about our son's different activities and he took great pride in their successes on and off the field.   My condolences and sympathy to the entire family.
