Avid skier, golfer and classic Packard enthusiast, Kenneth W. Matthews (age 65) passed away on March 26, 2015 after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. Ken was born in Pueblo, Colorado on December 15, 1949. He graduated from Wasson High School (Colorado Springs) in 1967, and from the University of Colorado (Boulder) with a degree in Architecture in 1973.
Ken was an Eagle Scout, rock climber and on the ski patrol at Breckenridge, Keystone and Vail in his youth. In later years, he was a Senior Architect for the City and County of Denver. He was recognized for numerous civic construction projects, among them renovation of the Red Rocks Amphitheatre, the Ellie Caulkins Opera House, and several Denver golf courses and libraries. A man of many interests who enjoyed restoring classic cars, he was treasurer of the Rocky Mountain Packard Club and Editor of the Colorado Classicist publication of the Classic Car Club of America.
Ken is survived by his wife Patricia, mother Floreine, sisters Pam and Kathleen (Tim), nephews Matthew (Poppy) and Andrew, nieces Meredith (Greg) and Cecily, and great-nephew Ned. He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil E. Matthews.
