Joe was born in Chester, Pennsylvania on Feb. 18, 1959. His parents, Adela and Jose Rodriguez were both immigrants from El Salvador, a country Joe visited several times during his childhood. Joe grew up bilingual in the San Francisco Bay Area where he developed his interests and hobbies which included sports, fishing, and his love of music. He attended St. Pius X Seminary & Prep in Galt, California where he excelled in football. He went to college at the University of San Francisco. After college, he continued living in San Francisco and worked as a bouncer at Rockin Robins in the Haight Ashbury district in the 80’s-90’s. He started working for the US Social Security Administration in 1986 in San Francisco, and he worked for the agency continuously until his recent retirement in Denver, Colorado in February of 2023.
In 1990, he met his wife, Ann. They were married in November of 1992 in Estes Park, Colorado. They moved from San Francisco to Colorado in 1993 and bought their first house in Littleton. Their oldest daughter Olivia was born in 1994 and was followed by a son, Mateo, in 1998. The family moved to Highlands Ranch and had their third child Amaya in 2002. There were many things that made Joe such a special person. He loved his family more than anything. He loved everything about the San Francisco Bay area - the Giants, the 49’er’s, the Raiders, the Warriors, as well as his favorite movie, Bullitt (best car chase ever made). He also had a unique obsession with 80’s music with his favorite artist being Carlos Santana. In his free time, you could find Joe scouring local garage sales and selling his finds on eBay. Joe loved vacationing with family and friends in Las Vegas, Mexico, San Francisco, Florida, and Seattle.
Joe was preceded in death by his father, Jose Rodriguez, and his stepfather, Tony Simoni.
Joe is survived by his mother Adela Simoni of San Francisco; brother Rudy and his family Ann, Joaquin, and Seren of Seattle, WA; his wife Ann Rodriguez of Highlands Ranch and his children Olivia Pederson and her husband Jarett Pederson of Castle Rock, CO; son Mateo Rodriguez and daughter Amaya Rodriguez of Highlands Ranch, CO.
