John Richard Cottrell Jr.

John’s early childhood growing up along the banks of the Mississippi river in Missouri was straight out of the Mark Twain storybooks. ln 1949, his family moved to Denver, CO where he graduated from South High School (class of 1960). After trying his hand at a few different callings, he decided to attend Oklahoma State University Technical Institute in Oklahoma City where he received an associate degree in architectural engineering. During this time in OK, his life would change forever after he went on a date and found the love of his life, Pricilla Sellers. John and Pricilla were married on September 21, 1963 and decided to start their amazing life together in Colorado. John took a position as a drafter with the Colorado Highway Department where he drew many Colorado road maps. In 1971, his destiny changed again when he started commercial printing for a living. As president and a founder of Cottrell Printing Company, he found his true passion of building a business. With perseverance, dedication, and enthusiasm, he created a true legacy that continues to this day. John loved traveling anywhere, building anything, pushing computers to their limits, and experiencing the great outdoors. Most of all, John loved spending as much time as possible with his beloved family.

Predeceased by his mother and father, Fannie (Hickman) and John R. Cottrell, Sr. Survived by his wife of 57 years – Pricilla, two sons - John the 3rd (Amy) and Jeffrey (Jennifer), three adored grandchildren - Preston, Andrew, and Elizabeth, and four siblings – Paul, Greg, Cathy, and Steve.

Memorial Service to be held at 10:00am, Thursday July 1, 2021 at Olinger Chapel Hill, 6601 S. Colorado Blvd. Centennial, CO 80121. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in John’s honor to the American Diabetes Foundation.
