JoAnn was born on January 22, 1932 in Shreveport, Louisiana to William Arthur and Lou Ellen Hutchinson Gooch. She has one older sister, Helen Jane. JoAnn attended St. Vincent’s Academy Parochial School for 12 years. She became an accomplished pianist under the tutelage of one of the Nuns, Mary Grace.
She attended college at North Western State University in Louisiana and Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, where she studied music.
JoAnn was married to Harold Francis Lacouture, a handsome captain in the Air Force in Shreveport Lousiana on August 2, 1952. They have a family of 6 children.
JoAnn was a full time piano teacher for decades, a performing concert pianist and was on staff at Southern Methodist University and University of Denver School of Music. She was the principle accompanist for Cherry Creek Chorale and Colorado Mormon Chorale.
JoAnn used her musical gifts to bless the lives of others. She served as a Pianist and Organist in many congregations, performances and in any other setting where her talents were needed.
