He attended Indiana University where he majored in being a pool shark and using his baby blue eyes to attract the ladies. It was there that he caught the attention of Kathleen Ann August in the late 70's. The two married on September 6, 1980. A few short years later, they began their greatest journey: parenthood. Jim became "dad" to August and Kristen and they became the thing he was most proud of. Jim and Kathleen moved the family to Denver in 1992 and began doing what he did best: working, barbequing, and playing pool.
Jim was an amazingly hard worker and there were very few things he couldn't fix (unless it had to do with technology). When he wasn't working, you could find him with either a pool stick or grill tools. He loved to spend his evenings with his beloved, Traeger Grill, making brisket, pulled pork and jerky. For those he deemed "family" he would even share his secret recipe for his JimBobeque sauce.
A new light in his eye's was ignited when he became "Pop Pop" to his sweet grandson, Graham. Pop Pop loved to teach Graham things that he would get in trouble for and the bond they had was unbelievable. Jim will be dearly missed for his caring heart, his inappropriate jokes and his ornery grin.
Jim is survived by his wife, Kathleen Sexton; son August Sexton (Emily "Siri" Scott); and daughter Kristen Sexton (Eric Roberson); brother Scott Sexton and brother Dan Sexton; grandson Graham Roberson; and his golden retriever, Missy.
A memorial service for Jim will be held Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary & Cemetery, 6601 South Colorado Blvd, Centennial, CO 80121. A celebration of life will be held following the service at the Sexton/Roberson household.
