Gordon Mark Smith, beloved husband, father, and friend, peacefully passed away on October 21, 2024, after an 8-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He spent his final days in the compassionate care of a memory care home, surrounded by love and support.
A very strong Christian and devoted family man, Gordon’s kindness, wisdom and sense of humor were a guiding light to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He was passionate about sports, cheering on the Denver Broncos, Denver Nuggets, and Chicago cubs. Gordon also loved to play golf and cherished the time spent at the family’s cabin in Grand Lake. An avid skier, the mountains were always near and dear to his heart.
Gordon’s proudest achievements were raising his two kids, Erin Courtney and Trevor Jacob, who both thrived in sports. Erin played soccer on a highly competitive club team and continued her passion in college. Gordy coached Trevor’s young soccer team for four year and was the head of the high school basketball team’s booster club for three seasons, during which Trevor played. Gordy never missed a single one of Erin’s or Trevor’s sporting event, always their biggest supporter.
Gordy was also known for his hard work and dedication throughout his career in the grocery industry, where he made lasting impacts and forged many friendships.
He leaves behind countless friends, a testament to his warm and genuine nature.
Gordon is survived by his wife, Jane; children, son Trevor (wife Alexa) and daughter, Erin; Sister Ann McCleery (husband Tac, daughter Samantha); brother Ted (wife Penny, daughter Marit & Kellen). They will continue to cherish his memory and carry his legacy forward.
Gordy’s life was a beautiful story of faith, love, dedication, and joy, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
