Gerald “Jerry” Speer passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 86 on Monday, August 21st in Littleton, Colorado. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is preceded in death by his parents and 3 siblings. He is survived by his wife Joyce, his children Jill and Jeff, 3 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and several siblings.
Jerry was born on March 24, 1937 in Lake City, Arkansas. He came to St. Louis, Missouri as a young boy where he went to Francis Howell High School in St. Charles before joining the Army. Following his honorable discharge, he came home and married Joyce Pfeiffer, who he was married to for 64 years.
Jerry moved his family to Colorado in 1974, where he lived the remainder of his life. He worked for many years as a carpenter and drywaller. He was a man of faith and often sang and played guitar in church services. He loved country and gospel music, and entertaining friends and family singing and playing guitar. In retirement, he enjoyed playing softball and golf and spending time with family. He and Joyce loved to watch the Rockies, Nuggets and Broncos together. He was a loving and kind man who will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will take place Monday, August 28th at St Andrew Presbyterian Church, 3096 S Sheridan Blvd. There will be a viewing at 9:30 am followed by a memorial service at 10:30 am. A reception will be held immediately afterward at the church. A brief interment ceremony will be held at Mt Lindo Cemetery and Mausoleum, 5928 S Turkey Creek Road, Morrison Colorado at 2 pm.
