Evelyn was born in Lucerne, Kansas on December 30, 1941 to Lyle Eugene and Alvina Bessie Martin in a blizzard. Her father, Lyle Martin, traveled to pick up the doctor who was stranded in the storm and bring him back to their house. When Lyle and the doctor returned home, they found out that the neighbor had delivered their new baby girl. Evelyn grew up in Englewood, attended Englewood schools and met Floyd during their high school years. Evelyn and Floyd married in March of 1959. They would be celebrating their 62nd anniversary this coming March. Evelyn and Floyd raised their 5 children in their same town, allowing all of them to also attend Englewood schools. After getting the children through school and on their own, Evelyn worked outside of the house for a while at Houtz drug store until joining Floyd at their parts store. She worked with Floyd until their retirement in 1995. During early retirement, Evelyn and Floyd enjoyed shooting, boating, camping and fishing. Evelyn was an avid reader and enjoyed many years of cross stitching and tending to her flowers in the spring and summer months. Evelyn was a homemaker; a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend.
At the time of her passing, she was preceded in death by her daughter Pam Warne, her parents Lyle and Alvina, brothers Don and Jim Martin and grandson Colton Wright. Evelyn is survived by her husband Floyd, sister, Marilyn Henry and four children; Randy Wright, Debbie Eldridge (Gill) Jennifer Piz (Bill), and Greg Wright (Julie), 16 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family will celebrate the legacy of Evelyn’s life at a later date.
