Esther Marie Hahn

She was born on October 26, 1916, in Clay Center, Kansas, the daughter of Ida and Ole Nordstrom. She was the youngest of nine siblings. She attended school in Clay Center and went on to teach elementary school in Clay Center for a few years. During WWII she worked as a riveter on airplanes for the government in Denver, Colorado, and then for the Union Pacific Railroad as a signal and switch operator in Cheyenne, Wyoming and in Ogden, Utah.

After the war she moved back to Denver where she met Victor Hahn. They were married on May 21, 1948 in Denver. After their oldest son, Greg, was born, they moved to Grand Junction, Colorado for a couple of years, then back to Denver where their other three children, Bruce, Janet, and Gail were born. Marie worked at Arapahoe Community College and Metro State College as a keyboard data entry operator while her children were growing up.

Marie loved her teaching job and her time working at the colleges. She also found time to do lots of canning of fruits, especially cherries from their cherry tree and sold Avon products while her children were young. She also did a lot fishing and camping with her husband, Victor, and their children. Marie really enjoyed spending time with family, including her brothers and sisters, nieces, children and grandchildren.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband Victor, and a grandson, Scott Hahn. She is survived by her four children, Greg Hahn (Nancy) of Broomfield, CO; Bruce Hahn (Alice) of Aurora, CO; Janet Hahn of Denver, CO, and Gail Ferguson (Ron) of Ft. Collins; seven grandchildren, Jeff Hahn, Jenny Hahn, David Hahn, Jason Hahn (Brittany), Brian Ferguson (Alyssa), Ed Ferguson (Sara), and Sarah Ferguson; and two great granddaughters, Natalya Hahn and Aryah Hahn.
