Edward Joseph Wedelstedt “Eddie W.” passed away on August 17, 2020 at 78 years old after a battle with stage four lung cancer.
Eddie was born on April 18, 1942 in Kenosha, Wisconsin to Berniece and Chet Wedelstedt. He attended Pleasant Prairie Elementary in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin and Central High in Paddock Lake, Wisconsin. Following high school, Eddie joined the United States Air Force where he was stationed at Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho where he boxed for the USAF Boxing Team.
Eddie was a hard worker who always had a mind for business. At just ten years old, he started his own car wash service, then a bakery delivery service followed by American Motors and Coke. He went on to be an amazing entrepreneur with Goalie Entertainment- owning over 100 retail locations. Eddie’s most important venture was creating his 501C with Eddie’s Kids. He received numerous humanitarian awards as well as several Life Time achievement awards for fighting for Free Speech as a member of the Free Speech Coalition.
Eddie’s personality was larger than life. When he walked into a room, the place lit up and the party began! He had a way of making every single person he met feel like family. There’s not a soul that met him, who could ever forget him. Eddie’s smile was as genuine as his heart and it was known to everyone he came in contact with.
Eddie loved sports, sports, sports and… sports. Occasionally, you might find him at a play- specifically Phantom of The Opera, but his heart resided on the court, field or rink. Eddie is survived by the love of his life, his ex-wife, Vivian Shoug; his children, Beverly Wedelstedt, David (Amanda) Wedelstedt, Vincent (Gina Marie) Wedelstedt and Regina (Jason Feinman) Wedelstedt; his grandchildren, Keely Wedesltedt, Max Edward Wedelstedt, Jasmin Wedelstedt, Ashlynn Olivia Wedelstedt, Isack Joseph Wedelstedt, Kalyb Wedelstedt and Knoxx Wedelstedt; his great granddaughter, Audrina Jean Trombatore; his sister, Sandy Woolhouse; his niece and nephew, Tamy Walker and Todd Kuwik; his great nephews Justyn Walker and Mason Kuwik and his great niece, Meranda Kuwik; his dear friend, Bob DePiano; his assistant and friend, Becky Francois, his amazing friend and family member Claudia after 30 years of service, as well as numerous friends and colleagues that have supported him through the years.
Our family wants to extend a special thank you to the staff at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary for being so amazing. They have made this hard time so much easier. They truly care about each and every family.
