Today, Martha Nelly is overcome with profound sadness as we reminisce about the day they exchanged vows on September 3rd, 2016, at Saint Thomas More Catholic Church. Seven years and seven months have passed since that joyous occasion, during which they stood side by side, lending their voices to the choir and assisting those in need.
In 2014 and 2018, Dennis had the profound opportunity to embark on a journey to the Holy Land, a pilgrimage that held deep significance in his spiritual life. This sacred expedition allowed him to walk in the footsteps of saints and prophets, strengthening his faith and enriching his connection to his beliefs. The memories of that pilgrimage remained etched in his heart, serving as a source of inspiration and guidance in his daily life. He was accompanied by Martha on his second pilgrimage in 2018 and through this experience in the Holy Land, they deepened their understanding of the teachings of their faith and found renewed purpose in their commitment to serving others.
Their journey together took them to Lima, Peru, where Martha Nelly was born and they spent 3 years in the country. Dennis had the chance to travel to Machu Picchu, to the coast of Peru as well as try many different types of delicious foods - This was great for Dennis as he was a foodie and loved to travel! He will always hold a special place in his heart for his travels to Hawaii, Mexico and Europe.
As a young man, Dennis was in the Air Force where he had the chance to travel and had the opportunity to study computer science. Dennis's passion for technology led him to a fulfilling career in IT, where he dedicated himself to his work at the Federal Reserve Bank in Chicago before relocating to Denver, Colorado. Beyond his professional pursuits, Dennis found solace in his love for trains, classical music, particularly his cherished role as a choir singer at All Souls Catholic Church from 2000 to 2009 and later at Saint Thomas More from 2010 to 2019.
His unwavering faith and devotion to his community were evident in every note he sang and every life he touched. Dennis' spirit will forever resonate in the halls of the churches he graced with his voice and in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Despite undergoing surgeries for hernias and battling heart complications, Dennis remained resilient, facing each trial with the strength of a warrior. On the morning of April 17th, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family and the prayers of those who cherished him, Dennis peacefully departed this life, his earthly journey complete. Though we mourn his loss deeply, we take comfort in knowing that he now rests in the embrace of the Virgin Mary, God, and Jesus, welcomed into their heavenly abode.
In memory of Dennis's legacy, let us cherish the moments we shared and carry forth his kindness, resilience, and love for life. As we say our farewells, may his soul find eternal peace and may his memory continue to inspire us all.
With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to our beloved friend, brother and husband, Dennis John Wozniczka.
