Bruce Wesley Hill was born in Oakland, California he attended Alhambra High School where he excelled both academically and as an athlete in baseball, gymnastics and skiing. After graduating from SDSU he was drawn to Colorado. First to Durango and then to Denver for that was where his heart was happiest.
Bruce met Sharon in the mid-eighties and fell madly in love with her. They developed and loved a great network of friends around the world due to their love of travel and discovery of new places. They built and ran Garnet Gecko together for many years in the Highlands and it became the place to shop for unusual and exotic gifts. Bruce loved chatting with customers and sharing amazing facts about everything they sold. Bruce being an only child developed and kept in touch with a large circle of “family” by his choice. He was an amazing friend to many with friendships dating back 50+ years.
Bruce and Sharon were also lovers of their amazing loyal pets over the years. They supported many rescues and shelters both here and in Mexico. Bruce was an adventurer, photographer, chronicler, car enthusiast, competitive race car driver, gregarious prankster and traveler of the Americas to Europe, Asia and tropical islands across the globe. Always upbeat, witty, kind and accepting of all. He enjoyed the ocean, trekking, fishing, wildlife and storytelling. He was surrounded by a great many friends both in the US and abroad. His life was lived to its fullest.
Bruce will be forever missed yet forever in the hearts of those who had the great fortune to have known him. Travel well my friend.
