I feel very privileged that I was part of a duo that introduced John and Janice over 47 years ago, and I was honored that I was able to share, and witness the love, respect, and admiration for this same man at the celebration of his adventurous life!  John, you had an ornery sense of humor, and a zest for all that you did!  Janice, Jessica, and Justin, as well as your mom Doris, will always have my love, support, and laughter, to help them through the darkest days.  May all their incredible memories of you, in time bring more smiles than tears.  You were definitely taken much too soon, but your journey will never be forgotten by those who knew, and loved you.  Oh, and I will be loosening the bolts in the "passenger seat!"

Janice, please know that Barb and I think of you all daily, and pray that God will help you through this difficult time.  I'll never forget how much fun John was..he always got us moving with hikes, or just ensuring he took us somewhere to enjoy all the beauty around.  (There'll be no sitting around😀)  RIP John. ❤❤❤

John was my very favorite brother in law who I was very close too.  When I would go to visit Janice and John they both would see to it that I had a good time .  I love to go hiking and John would take me to the mountains . He was always so smart and fun to be with. I love u and will miss u always but u will b In my heart . You may be gone but never forgotten .  R.i.p.

I met John in 1979 at FedEx when he and Janice moved from Dayton, OH to Lexington, KY.  We immediately became friends when we discovered our common love of motorcycles.  I'll always cherish the many great memories we had during the time he and Janice were in Lexington.  He was always happy, upbeat and positive, a very caring and warm person.  He was well read and always loved a friendly debate on current events.  His enthusiasm for the things he loved was contagious.  I'm so thankful we were able to reconnect.  No more pain John, rest in peace.

We  shared many great times in Dillon with John and Janice and cherish great memories. John was always quick with a smile and happy to spend quality time with us. He had a gift of making you feel very significant and important. 

Janice - Melissa and I are so thankful that we were able to meet and get to know John.  Our hearts are broken for you; he was a special man and will be missed. We are holding you all up in prayer, and offer you all our love, support and lots of hugs ❤️

I am so sorry to hear of John's passing.  I was on the SYC Board with John.  He was a kind, sincere and wonderful man.  He was a supportive and gentle leader.  Please accept my heartfelt sympathy.

When we moved into our home on Enchantra in 2012, Janice became my first Colorado friend. Although my husband and I only stayed 4 years we had the opportunity to witness and experience many times the love and generosity Team Vanderpool had to share. My husband Eric was out of town when a snowstorm hit the area. We had at least 3 feet of snow in our driveway .. almost three years ago to this day John, my  knight in shining armor, appeared out of nowhere. I looked out my window as the sun set to see lights going up and down the driveway as John made it possible for me to leave my house.
That was just one of several times both John & Janice came to my rescue.  It brought tears to my eyes one day watching the two of them help dig me out. John with his faithful snowblower and  Janice shoveling away .
You and your soft spoken quiet strength and positive energy will be missed John Vanderpool.  Although many see you with your motorcycles I like to see you hiking Bell Mountain and the surrounding trails with your beautiful German Shepherd Stella by your side.
Our hearts are breaking for you and your family Janice .  May God hold you up and give you strength and comfort as you say goodbye to your best friend and devoted husband. RIP sweet friend and neighbor.💗

My husband, Andy Toth, met John about two weeks before he was diagnosed.  Janice and I have known each other for about 15 years after working together in Castle Rock.  Though I moved to Evergreen after meeting Andy, Janice and I have remained close friends, and I love her dearly.  Andy and John connected right away, and I could see a bromance developing as they had so much in common.  The Lord had other plans for our kind, sweet, and unforgettable friend, John, and the bromance will have to wait.   John will be forever in our hearts, his family and friends in our thoughts and prayers, and we look forward to seeing John again on the other side as we each arrive in the Lord's time. 

My deepest condolences go out to you Janice and your family.  I know we only met just a few years ago and of course at Dillon for the 4th of July each year.  But, I found you and John to be such admirable friends that I got to know and enjoy immensely.  John will be missed by so many of his dear and close friends who always talked so highly of him.    My heart goes out to you and your family at this time.  But rest assure that John will live on and stay within our hearts and memories. 

Janice and family, we didn't know John but have heard so much about him through our brothers, Dale and Bob.  We're sorry not to have known him as we know that he was a very special man.  He was so supportive to us when we lost our parents.  Let your memories and love bring you peace throughout the coming months and years.

I didn't get to know John until the mid 70's and spent a brief time living together at the "Main Street" house along with Dale, and followed by many others. John was one of the good guys who cared about people and had a huge appetite for living life to its fullest. My sympathies to Janice and family and his mom. Be happy in your memories. My deepest condolences for your loss. The time spent with John riding motorcycles in the Rockies, is one of the best memories of my life. I will always be grateful for the kindness I was shown as a guest in your home.

John was a gift of a man, kind, sincere and strong. My condolences and love to Janice and  family.



John was more than a boss to me- he was a lifelong teacher and friend. He used to have these “rules of the road” he used all the time- and he lived them as well! 
1) Never pass up an opportunity, for it may not present itself again 
2) if you don’t want to be compromised, don’t put yourself in compromising situations 
3) you are the only one that can make today EXTRAordinary and 
4) Opportunity is wherever you decide to make it.

 I have lived and loved these guiding principles. In one of his last emails to me- he said, “Big Dog signing off.  See you on the other side if not sooner”.  Yes, My dear friend- I’ll see you on the other side. 

Prayers for comfort to all in the family and friends alike. He is surely preparing a place for us and readying the heavenly classroom to accept us as students once again. 

To the motocross track in the sky- “on any Sunday.”  RIP
