Valerie Dawn Garrett

She was born on February 14, 1947 in Bronx, NY to the late Edward and Audrey Corbett. Valerie grew up in South Florida and was educated in Fort Lauderdale Public Schools and attended Stranahan High School. Valerie also attended Florida State University and graduated in 1971. She married Glenn Garrett in September of 1972 who preceded her in death in 2004.

Valerie was a dedicated mother and grandmother first and foremost. She was a sweet and caring person who always put others first. She had a lighthearted personality and made friends everywhere she went. She loved to shop and enjoyed showering her family with gifts during the holidays. She was a dedicated employee at TransMontaigne, but on her days off she enjoyed going to the casino with friends or a quiet evening at home catching up on her favorite shows.

Valerie recently relocated to North Carolina to be near her family. She is survived by her two children and their spouses Brian and Sabrina Garrett, and Dawn and Chris Cortez. She is also survived by four grandchildren Alyssa, Brianna, Jordyn, and Jayla. She lived for those she loved and will be fondly remembered.
