In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Mize and her grandson, Alan Mize.
She grew up in Aurora, NC and later married Paul L. Mize, Jr. of Bonner Springs, Kansas. During their 64 years of marriage they relocated to Cary, NC. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Cary. She sang in the choir and was a long-time member of the Women’s Society of Christian Service. Cornelia also volunteered for many years at the Dorcas Shop in Cary. In addition to her service to her family and community, Cornelia was an avid gardener and crafts person.
She is survived by her children, Linda Mize and John Kushman of Pittsboro, Gail Mize Jacks of Pittsboro, and Glenn and Betty Mize of Cary; her grandchildren Samuel Jacks, Lucas Jacks and Marsha Mize; a great granddaughter, Grace Mize; sisters, Elizabeth Broome of Cary, NC, Alma Broome Dixon of Conover, NC and Dorothy Broome Howell of Walnut Creek, CA; sister in law Eleanor Mize Head and Kenneth of Paola, KS as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. She will be missed by all who knew her.
The family will receive friends from 4-6 PM on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Dorcas Ministries at 187 High House Rd, Cary, NC 27511.
