Lan was born on July 16, 1943, in Nam Dinh, Vietnam. He was a son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather.
Lan lived a wonderful and honorable life. He was proud of his role as a fighter pilot in the Vietnamese Air Force, during the Vietnam War. After the fall of Vietnam, he led his entire extended family to a new life in the United States. He successfully started a new life and a new career as an entrepreneur, and later as a quality engineer at Dial Corporation, in St. Louis, MO. After retirement, he and his wife relocated to Cary, NC. His passions and enjoyment included tennis, fishing, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his father Rinh Van Tran, and his mother, Dau Thi Nguyen. He is survived by his wife, Hoang Oanh Thi Nguyen, his three sons, Luan (and Yvette), Vu (and Jyoti Pandya) and Brian, his grandchildren, Tejas, Bridgette, Liesl and Asha, his sister Tran thi Trang and husband Thanh Pham, his sister Tran thi Nghiem and husband Nguyen Dinh, and children, his sister Tran thi Quynh Giao and husband Hung Hoang, and children, his brother Tran Quoc Thai and wife Quyen Le, and children, and his sister Tran thi Thu Thuy, and children.
Celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Rd, Cary, NC 27511 The ceremony will begin at 10am.
