John Francis Manganaro

Our Beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, partner and friend, John “Frank” Francis Manganaro passed away suddenly on July 8, 2024. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Francis and Carol Manganaro, Ernest and Jean Moorhead and childhood best friend, Simon Amr. He is survived by his parents John and Linda (Moorhead) Manganaro, sister Jessica (Anton), nephews Benjamin and Lev, loving partner Katrina, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Frank was born April 16, 1993, and raised in the Midwest where he enjoyed many childhood friends and activities including rock climbing and high school swim team. He also had a sweet tooth indulged by his father at the local coffee shop. He obtained a BS degree in Chemistry from Miami University—Ohio, before continuing on into graduate studies in Colorado. As a Chemist, he was involved in the research of compounds that might further cancer treatment.

Frank was a Renaissance man of boundless interests and breadth of knowledge. He was interested in nearly any subject, science, social, history, and beyond, and typically surprised family and friends with his recent discoveries on unexpected topics. His mind was quick and agile, and he loved rapid repartee in conversation. He was such a bright light with a heart of gold. The cats and rescue dogs in his life adored him.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Restless Legs Foundation https://www.rls.org/manganaro which Frank would have wholeheartedly endorsed because this condition had a major impact on his life. He’d be pleased to alleviate the suffering it causes to anyone else.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Road, Cary, NC 27511. Afterwards there will be a funeral service at 3:00 PM with a reception to follow.
