I was a coworker and close friend from Duke.  He and I worked together on graveyards for 4 years before we both decided we had enough with the outside late night work. He was sweet, funny, kind, and he was always there for you. I will miss him. Sorry I had no idea until now that you were gone. Soooo sad my dear friend. I love you and now you are free of health issues.❤❤😞

I knew James from working with him through Allied Universal Security at Duke University.  Hadn't seen him since he left but we still kept in touch. We'd send each other a text......maybe a joke or about his Wolfpack or my Tar Heels. Last time I spoke with him was on February 19th. I sent him a text telling him I hope NC State win in the March Madness Tournament. No response which wasn't like him. So I looked him up online. I'm devastated. R.I.P. my friend 

To Chris and Her Family ,

I was filled with sorrow and tears when I heard of your loss of Jamie .
I so enjoyed our conversations about our children and all of Jamie's accomplishments over the years,  and Chris how he was a support for you .

Dear Chris, Lea and Steve,
Our hearts were broken when David called us about Jamie's passing.   When he'd called David in January while we were visiting, we prayed for hope.   I know that David and Jamie spoke several times after that.  David so valued Jamie as a good friend.  I can hear them laughing, as they always did.  It was a pleasure to witness their friendship over the years.  Jamie was kind, fun, daring, and yet so grounded in his family.  He loved you all, greatly.  Our love, prayers and support are here for you, and go with you.  Jamie will not be forgotten in our household.  The world and the people that he touched are better for it.  No higher praise can an individual have then for it to be said the world is better because he was here. And with Jamie that was so true.   Love Pat & Dave Borowski

To the Nickerson Family, 

I am extremely sorry to hear about your loss of James.  I heard about his passing today from our professor and was deeply saddened.  Last Wednesday, James brought donuts to our entire class and afterward I had a long conversation with him about life and future plans.  He told me  to be grateful for the experiences I was getting to have and to not worry so much about school.  He also told me many funny stories from his time working at Duke University.  He was a good friend with a kind heart and I am deeply saddened about his passing.  I will be keeping your family in my prayers.

I am so sorry to hear of Jamie’s passing.  He was always such a wonderful boy and young man……so pleasant and always willing to help me if there was anything I needed. I will never forget him playing Taps in our parking lot on 9/11. I was moved to tears as I am now thinking about his sweet and thoughtful nature.

Rest in peace Jamie…. your reward in Heaven is great,
