Jim was born on April 3, 1954 in Elmhurst, New York to Daniel J. D’Errico and the late Carline Y. Blankenship D’Errico.
Mr. D’Errico spent his career working as a software engineer. His most notable accomplishment was being the designer of the first drive through weigh station for Tractor Trailer Trucks. In his personal life, Jim had a fondness for adventure. He enjoyed sailing and was a sailing instructor for a time in the Triangle area. Jim loved scuba diving and early on, sky diving as a “Jump Master”. Jim served for 26 years in various leadership roles in the Coast Guard Auxiliary teaching safety courses, conducting safety inspections, and managing the Cary website. In Illinois, he served as a Division Captain over five Flotillas and hundreds of members in the 1990's.
Jim is survived by his wife of 38 years, Andria D’Errico; father, Daniel J. D’Errico; siblings, Peter D’Errico and Jennifer D’Errico Gant; Nieces, Loren and Caroline Gant, and Linda Kirby; and his nephews Daniel D’Errico and Joseph D’Errico.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 9:30 am, Saturday February 9, 2019 in the Chapel of Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Rd. Cary, NC 27511. All are invited to a brunch immediately following the service at Lucky 32 Southern Kitchen at 11:00am.
