Elizabeth McBrayer Finley

Elizabeth was born January 24, 1919 in Savannah, Georgia to the late Hugh Dougald McLean and Susie McDonald Bacon McLean. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Raleigh and was employed with NC State University retiring with over 25 years of service. Elizabeth was a longtime resident of Woodland Terrace. Elizabeth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John B. McBrayer; and her second husband, Col. George A. Finley, retired.

Elizabeth is survived by her daughters, Nanza M. Bynum (Jim) of Cary; and Beth M. Johnston (Bill) of Pine Knoll Shores; grandchildren, Laura Johnston Gaston (Hal) of Holly Springs; and Scott McBrayer Johnston (Abby) of Raleigh; great grandchildren, Brice Davis; Hunter Davis; Henry Johnston; Miles Johnston.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, January 3, 2011 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Road, Cary, NC 27511. A private family graveside will be held at Historic Oakwood Cemetery in Raleigh. The family will receive friends 10:00 – 11:00 am prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 120 W. Hargett Street, Raleigh, NC 27601.
