Angier, NC: Edward Lee Williams, Jr., 57, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at the William M. Dunlap Center for Caring.
Ed proudly served his country in the US Army and NC Army National Guard for 20 ½ years. He was co-founder and VP of Operation Helping Hands for Heroes and a member of Rolling Thunder NC4, Raleigh HOG and Patriot Guard Riders. He worked as a technical support specialist in the IT division at NCDOT. Ed will always be remembered as a good friend, proud veteran and most importantly as a loving husband.
Ed was preceded in death by his father, Edward Lee Williams, Sr.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Cindy Heffley Williams; mother, Clara S. Williams; sister, Linda Wilson and husband, Jim and nieces, Jamie and Leigh Anne; brother, Danny Williams and wife, Lee and niece, Briana Anderson and husband, James; step daughter, Holly Short and husband, Jeff; step son, Keith Kowanick, Sr.; 7 grandchildren (Tyler, Dylan, Daniel, Lexi, Weston, Keith Jr., Liam); and 2 devoted dogs, Otis and Redding.
A celebration of Ed’s life with full military honors will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 2, 2012 at First United Methodist Church, 117 S. Academy Street, Cary, NC 27511. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
