Dot was born on September 14, 1941 in Raleigh. She graduated from Cary High School where she met her husband, Donald "Don" Cooper. They were married in 1959. She also attended Peace College.
She loved her three children and devoted much of her life to them and also adored her two grandchildren that knew her as Mimi. Dot also enjoyed her time spent at the family business - Cooper's Furniture in Cary. Later, she also worked for Brown-Wynne Funeral Home. Dot was a member of First Baptist Church in Cary for many years.
Dot was well known for her culinary skills and shared that talent with everyone - especially her family. She was also famous for her lifelong devotion to her cats and other pets.
She exhibited great style and grace wherever she went.
Dot was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Howard Moser and her brother, Robert "Butch" Howard. She is survived by her devoted husband, Donald "Don" Cooper, and her three sons, Mike Cooper (Joe), Jerry Cooper (Laura), and Neil Cooper (Katherine). She was very proud of her two grandchildren, Jake Cooper and Jeanna Cooper. She is also survived by two aunts, Betty Senter and Eleanor Wheeler, and an uncle, George Barbour.
The family wishes to thank her two caregivers for the care and friendship given - Cynthia Morehead and Tamala Wall.
She also had very special and giving neighbors - Joyce and Ron Smirsky and Doris Current. Lifelong friend Jackie Parker is also recognized.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Wake County SPCA, 200 Petfinder Lane, Raleigh, NC 27603 (spcawake.org) in her memory or a charity of your choice.
Visitation with the family will be held at Montlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, 2911 S Wilmington St, Raleigh, NC, on Monday, October 24, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:45 PM. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 PM at Montlawn Memorial Park.
