I  have many fond memories of Don,  growing up it was always the event of the year when we would visit them or they would visit us.  We did a lot of "exploring" when we were together, as typical boys we were always into some mischief.  I regret the years after  we grew up that we were not in touch but thankful that we reestablished our relationship in our older days.  I felt we were able to rekindle our family love.  I am also very thankful that we had  the opportunity to reminisce  about all the times we shared  growing up on the very day he fell and consequently ended up at Duke.
Don was a thoughtful,  kind person who loved family (&extended family).  All children and Grands can rest assured that you were special to him and Linda was no doubt the love of his life.
I was proud to call him "Cuz"but Morse than that I was proud to call him friend,

Dear Linda,  
We are deeply saddened by Don's passing.  He was such a special guy, a wonderful neighbor, great friend, and among the warmest, friendliest men we have ever known. 
Our thoughts are with you and your beautiful family during this time of sorrowful separation.  Recalling Don's warm smile, very gracious greetings, and fun loving nature fills us with comforting and endearing memories.  We will always remember him.

Mr. Brown made such a big impression on me when I first met him.  In college, we crashed at their house during SunFest.  He was very kind, funny (an amazing cook) and had such a fantastic rapport with Greg that I vowed to be that kind of dad.   

Over the years, I’ve gut-checked myself so many times to see if I was being “that kind of dad.”  And while I may not have succeeded as often as I would have hoped, it was awfully nice to have the example.  I can think of no better testimony to his life than the funny, kind people he raised.

We remember how kind he was and how proud he was of his family. We remember his wonderful homes in Lake Clark Shores with the Commodore 64 computer,  on Gabriel Street with all the Christmas lights, and in PGA National. What we remember most is his sense of humor. He always made us laugh. We are blessed to have known him.

We will continue to pray for Mr. Brown and his family.  May God shine perpetual light upon him.
